(KNSI) – COVID-19 booster shots are available in Minnesota for 16 and 17-year-olds. Governor Tim Walz announced the availability of the Pfizer booster dose following an expansion of eligibility by federal public health officials.

Minnesota Department of Health officials say all 16 and 17-year-olds in the state who’ve finished their primary series of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago should get their Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot. Pfizer remains the only COVID-19 vaccine authorized for this age group. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are currently only approved for adults age 18 and older.

Minnesotans 16- and 17-years-old will be able to get a booster dose anywhere the Pfizer vaccine is being administered. Governor Walz and state health officials encourage all Minnesotans 16 years of age and older to get their booster dose.

Minnesotans seeking a booster shot can visit mn.gov/vaccine to find a provider near them to schedule an appointment or find a walk-in clinic.
