(KNSI) — No one was hurt, but a business was damaged in a fire Thursday morning in Melrose.
According to a report from the Melrose Fire Department Chief Tom Budde, crews were called about 5:35 a.m. for a structure fire at the Munson Feed Mill. When the first trucks arrived, the fire was in the upper storage space in the back of the warehouse. Budde says the business owner and another employee tried to put the fire out before the fire department was on scene.
The fire was contained to the upper storage space and was caught in its early stages. Budde says minimal damage was done to the structure.
The Melrose Fire Department, Melrose Ambulance, Melrose Police Department, Sauk Centre Fire Department, and Stearns County Sheriff’s Department all assisted on scene. Approximately 50 firefighters, four engines, and one ladder truck battled the blaze. Melrose Fire Department’s ladder truck was used to gain access to open the roof up to vent the smoke of the building.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.
