(KNSI) — Two Minnesota senators and two local Congressional representatives have introduced legislation to rename three post offices in honor of fallen Minnesota National Guardsmen.
Warrant Officer Candidate Kort Plantenberg of Avon, Chief Warrant Officer Charles Nord of Perham, and Chief Warrant Officer James Rogers Jr. of Winstead were all killed in a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crash south of St. Cloud on December 5th, 2019. The three were on board conducting a routine maintenance test flight when the helicopter went down.
Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith introduced the legislation to rename the Avon, Perham, and Winstead post offices in the soldiers’ honor and memory. Companion legislation was introduced by Congressman Tom Emmer and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach in the house.
