(KNSI) – St. Cloud is set to approve its budget for the coming year. The city council is voting on a $127 million budget for 2022, which includes $79 from local property taxes and the rest from federal and state funds. Officials say homeowners won’t see an increase in their city tax rate unless their homes value increases.
The council is also approving an enterprise budget that includes phased-in fee increases to garbage collection and sewer rates. The $50.8 million enterprise funds include increasing the special garbage pickup cost from $10 to $20 per request. Garbage carts will be increased by $2.50 a month over two years. ($1.25 in 2022 and $1.25 in 2023) Wastewater fees will go up $1.90 per unit over four years. (2022 in $0.40 and $0.50 in 2023, 2024 and 2025)
St. Cloud is also looking at raising its street light utility fee by $0.20 a month over four years. ($0.05 a year in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025)
The city council held a public hearing last month on both funds. No one spoke at either hearing.
