(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Area School District is extending its winter break for staff and students to two full weeks. The three-day extension now includes December 20, 21 and 22, with school resuming on January 3.

According to a press release from District 742, the extension acknowledges the challenges currently facing schools and families due to staffing shortages, student absences, and other impacts of the pandemic.

The district says KIDSTOP will be available to already registered families on December 20 to 22 at Clearview, Kennedy, Madison, Oak Hill or Talahi schools. Families must register for these extended days by contacting KIDSTOP.

To make up two of the days, the district is moving a staff development day on January 18 and a digital learning day scheduled for March 4 to in-person learning.

Last week, the Sartell-St. Stephen School District announced they were extending their winter break to two weeks for the same reasons.
