(KNSI) – A car jacking suspect from Minneapolis was arrested in St. Cloud Thursday night.
According to a press release, St. Cloud police were notified that a stolen vehicle from Minneapolis was possibly in the city. Using GPS technology, officers located the occupied stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop in the 300 block of 32nd Avenue North at about 11:07 p.m. The driver accelerated away from police and fled officers in the stolen vehicle. St. Cloud police pursued the vehicle for approximately 5 minutes before losing sight of it. The unoccupied vehicle was located a short time later in the 1300 block of 6th street North.
Officers followed fresh tracks in the snow and located a 17-year-old suspect in a nearby apartment building. The juvenile male was arrested without incident. He’s being held at the Stearns County Jail on charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
The Minneapolis Police Department was advised of the recovery of the vehicle.
