(KNSI) – A St. Cloud area wine expert has some advice to take your Thanksgiving dinner to another level. Westside Liquors wine Sommelier Jeff Anderson says a sweet or light wine will make Thanksgiving dinner better.
“That little bit of sweetness actually counterbalances the saltiness of a ham and the lightness of the wine goes great with a turkey. With the dessert wines, the general rule of thumb is you want your dessert wine sweeter than your dessert.”
Some of his top recommendations include Rieslings, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot Noir. He says the biggest mistake people drink is not trying enough wines.
“Try different stuff. So many people tend to gravitate towards one grape or only drink. There’s so much coming from around the globe, we’re living in the golden age of wine.”
Anderson says also think about buying a sparkling wine for the holidays.
