(KNSI) – Weihnachtsmarkt will take place tonight in St. Cloud. The festival will be held in the fifth avenue parking ramp next to the River’s Edge Convention Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the city has a plan to tame the outdoor elements.
“Right here in the parking ramp, on the third floor, it has a roof, so don’t worry about the elements. And we’re going to block out that back part so the wind won’t be coming through here, and so enjoy Weihnachtsmarkt.”
The mayor talked about why the city celebrtas Weihnachtsmarkt.
“It’s a traditional German-themed market that we’ve been doing for nine years in honor of that heritage from 166 years ago when a lot of Germans immigrated into this area.”
The traditional German Christmas market will feature lebkuchen, coffee, hot chocolates, and Beaver Island Brewing Company is making a German beer with the Spalter hops from St. Cloud’s sister city in Spalt, Germany. Guest can also drink gluhwein. A traditional German spiced wine served warm. The event will also have local arts and crafts and music.
