SCSU Honored As College of Distinction

(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University has been awarded six College of Distinction honors. St. Cloud State received specialized recognition for its career development, support of military students, and its business, nursing, education, and engineering programs.

“We are delighted for the recognition of the great work that we are doing to support students from the moment of their admission to the university, to their walk across the stage for commencement, and the start of long and successful careers,” said St. Cloud State University President Robbyn Wacker, “We are thrilled with this recognition as it demonstrates our commitment as a university to provide a premier education in the areas of holistic health and wellness, leadership, education and engineering and applied science.”

Founded in 2000, Colleges of Distinction has advocated for schools whose undergraduate experiences are grounded in a philosophy of engagement, teaching, community, and outcomes. Over the last few years, this philosophy has evolved into inspiring the team at Colleges of Distinction to create individual recognitions that focus on institutions’ specialized services for students.

Founded in 1869, St. Cloud State University offers 200 undergraduate academic programs, 60 graduate degrees, and two doctoral programs serving more than 11,000 students.

Education: St. Cloud State is proud to graduate future educators who are knowledgeable and efficient mentors who provide empathetic support and novel teaching methods. St. Cloud State College of Education and Learning Design’s Education programs include Elementary Education, Special Education, Higher Education, Early Childhood Education, Technology Education, Library Media, Educational Leadership, and a focus on area-specific training for secondary school educators.

Nursing: The accredited Nursing program in St. Cloud State’s School of Health and Human Services has enabled its students to take calculated action even in high-pressure situations. With four full years at St. Cloud State, these students are challenged to remain curious and compassionate throughout their rigorous practice. Concentrations in Nursing include a Bachelor of Science program and an RN bachelor’s degree completion program. The Nursing department is also working with the University of Minnesota to support graduate nursing students while developing a Doctor of Nursing Practice that will focus on Family Nurse Practitioner that will launch in 2025.

Business: Globalization and the intricacies of modern business operations require effective communication and apt problem-solving strategies. St. Cloud State Herberger Business School’s programs in Real Estate, Finance, Insurance, Professional Selling, Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Marketing, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurship keep their future leaders adaptable as they grow alongside their industry.

Engineering: The Engineering Badge honors St. Cloud State’s College of Science and Engineering for its Environmental, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, and Computer engineering programs. Students in these programs are guided to take their creativity into their own hands, innovating and evolving as quickly as the technological landscape they study. Career Development: Additionally, schools awarded the Career Development badge have shown that they are well equipped to help their students graduate with confidence. The badge recognizes schools with comprehensive four-year plans, advising, and more. St. Cloud State offers such resources as career exploration, interview preparation, resume reviews, LinkedIn profile reviews, and job and internship fairs, providing unparalleled support throughout every stage of career exploration, development, and application.

Military Support: As the number of veterans pursuing higher education increases, so does the demand for their personal and academic support.
