(KNSI) – It’s Give to The Max Day on Thursday. It’s a chance for nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to raise money for their cause. The day of giving was started in 2009 by Give MN.org. Executive Director Jake Blumberg says every donation has a chance to go further thanks to matching contributions.

“If you give on Give to the Max Day, every 15 minutes you’ll have a chance to have $500 added to your gift. Every hour $1,000 will be added to a gift and at the end of the day $10,000 will be added to one lucky donors contribution. It’s kind of like bingo for giving where you have a chance to win every 15 minutes.”

He says part of Give to the Max’s success is giving brings happiness.

“Giving is a joyful thing. It makes us feel good. Giving should be fun. There should be a sense of camaraderie and community and folks participating in Give to the Max Day will find that.”

Blumberg says donors tell him that Give to the Max Day brings them a sense of civic pride and civic engagement. He says many nonprofits say that they get up to 40% of their funding on Give to the Max Day.

There are 627 organizations around St. Cloud looking for donations on Give to the Max Day. You can find an organization based on causes or location.
