(KNSI) — Three area non-profits have received grants from the Small Business Partnership Grant Program.

The grants are through the Department of Employment and Economic Development. They are given to non-profits and public entities to provide and facilitate business development and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The Initiative Foundation of Little Falls received $200,000 for its philanthropic efforts across 14 area counties to create jobs and economic and community development opportunities.

The Kandiyohi County & City of Willmar Economic Development Commission received $76,000 for attracting new businesses, assisting with expansion, retaining existing businesses, and promoting rehabilitation and redevelopment of areas within the communities they serve.

The St. Cloud State University Small Business Development Center received $120,000. The center makes available consultants for those interested in starting a business to guide them through the process.

The purpose of this grant is to support the start-up, growth, and success of Minnesota’s entrepreneurs and small business owners through the delivery of high quality free or low-cost professional business development and technical assistance services.
