(KNSI) — One person has died after a crash Thursday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call came in about 6:50 about a single-vehicle crash on County Road 195 in Zion Township. The caller said the driver was the only person in the car; they were trapped and unresponsive.

St. Martin Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and began life-saving measures immediately, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says a preliminary investigation shows 22-year-old Cory Sturges of Belgrade was going north on 195 and left the roadway, and entered the ditch where he hit a driveway approach. They say that sent the car airborne and ultimately crashing into an unoccupied home.

The Minnesota State Patrol was called in to assist with reconstruction. They say the exact time of the crash isn’t clear because no one was home, and the vehicle went unnoticed until the passerby called for help.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
