(KNSI) — The annual statewide Minnesota Veterans Day event will be held virtually again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program is prerecorded and runs about 30 minutes. It will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, November 11th. There will be music from the 34th Infantry Division Red Bull Band and country music singer Rockie Lynn. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke, members of Minnesota’s Congressional Delegation, Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force Chairman Ron Haugen and employees from the MDVA will all speak. Former WCCO-TV reporter Bill Hudson will host the program. Hudson has covered many veteran-related assignments, including Minnesota National Guard missions to Bosnia, Honduras, and Panama, and traveled to Saudi Arabia to accompany soldiers returning home from the first Gulf War.
Commissioner Herke says, “Although we are not gathering in person, the importance of recognizing Minnesota’s Veterans for their service, sacrifice and resilience has not diminished,” said MDVA Commissioner Larry Herke. “We encourage all Minnesotans to take a moment to thank the Veterans in their lives for the freedoms we all enjoy.”
