(KNSI) – Foley Public Schools was one of three schools to win the 2021 Walk to School Day Photo Contest through the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) Safe Routes to School Program.

On October 6th, the City of Foley, Benton County Public Health, and Foley Public Schools teamed up to host the 5th annual Walk to School Day event. More than 70 children participated in the event. Foley set up two walking school bus locations where children could meet up to walk with adults to our common meeting area. All of the participants got goodie bags.

Children were encouraged to walk even if they didn’t meet up at one of the two walking school bus locations. The Foley Police Department assisted kids in crossing Highway 23. The Foley Fire Department was also at the event and even brought one of their fire trucks for children to take a group photo with.

Foley Public Schools also won the Walk to School Day Photo Contest back in 2018. Find out more about the MN Safe Routes to School Program and see the other photo contest winners by clicking here.
