(KNSI) — A 32-year-old from Big Lake is charged with two felonies after allegedly exchanging sexually-based emails and messages with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl.

According to a criminal complaint, on September 29th, a message came into a decoy account from Matthew Eugene Piram on an anonymous chat website, which law enforcement says is often used to solicit children to engage in sexual conduct. The decoy account went to an investigator with the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force.

In the messages, Piram was allegedly aware of the age of the girl he believed he was talking to, asked her what she was looking for, and in a message, said that he was 32. Then one message allegedly asks if they have met other guys from the site, if they are older, and if they have had sex with them. Court documents say Piram asked for messages to be sent to his “secret email” to chat and “trade pics.” Piram is accused of asking about certain body parts and asked if they had performed certain sex acts. Piram also allegedly sent a picture via email, and the criminal complaint says the conversations end September 30th, but Piram allegedly sent another email on October 13th to the investigator to ask what they were doing.

Investigators say they found photos and numerous other conversations Piram had with women and tracked Piram to his home in Big Lake, where a search warrant was carried out. Police seized electronic devices and took photos inside the home.

Piram was arrested and charged with soliciting a child, or someone believed to be a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct and engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child.

His next court appearance is in February.
