(KNSI) – The 2021 St. Cloud Walk to End Alzheimer’s raised more than $119,000.
The money is used to help people in central Minnesota who have Alzheimer’s and dementia and their caregivers with free support services. The top fundraising team was Rock 4 ALZ, raising more than $18,000. Organizers say 448 people from 80 teams took part in the annual fundraiser.
Emceeing the event were KNSI’s Bob Hughes and local radio personality Cyn Bolsta. Both have their own personal Alzheimer’s story and were able to bring participants together with the help of cheerleaders, dancers and Blizzard from St. Cloud State University.
Donations are being accepted for the St. Cloud Walk to End Alzheimer’s until December 31, 2021. Donate at act.alz.org/stcloud.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 99,000 people live with the disease affecting 170,000 caregivers in Minnesota. Officials say more than 6 million Americans live with the disease and more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
