(KNSI) – St. Cloud has approved exchanging parkland with Sartell to develop a regional mountain bike trail system. St. Cloud is working with Sartell and other stakeholders to build the trail at Sauk River Regional Park.
Both cities have land lying north of the Sauk River. Sartell has 14 acres owned on the south side of the Sauk River, which is landlocked except for a public pedestrian walkway in St. Cloud to Mill Creek Circle.
The proposed exchange would give about 11 acres of Whitney Park from St. Cloud to Sartell, creating consistent ownership for maintenance and operation of the entire mountain bike trail.
St. Cloud would get the 14-acre parcel next to St. Cloud in exchange.
