(KNSI) — A 22-year-old Sauk Rapids man will avoid jail time after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting three teen girls.
Deshun Nathan was charged in Stearns County District Court with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct after prosecutors said he assaulted the teens over several months in 2018. Nathan was charged in 2020 by a summons after court proceedings were severely limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to interviews conducted by police, a 15-year-old girl who was a student at St. Cloud Tech High School said Nathan and another man approached her at school, cornering her and begging her to have sex with both of them. She said she gave in, and the two took her to an electrical room in the basement of the school, where the assault took place. The assault was also recorded, with several students saying they saw a video of what happened. She said she was unaware that a video existed.
A second girl told investigators that Nathan invited her to his apartment via Snapchat and is also accused of recording the assault.
Nathan admitted to the allegations and said there was also an assault that happened in the nursing room at the St. Cloud Public Library.
A third teen came forward saying Nathan asked her to have sex and said she was hesitant at first but then relented. He is accused of assaulting her in the same electrical room as the first girl. Other encounters also allegedly occurred at Nathan’s apartment, and she said she thought he may have recorded one of them.
Nathan pleaded guilty and received a stayed prison sentence and five years’ probation. He must also undergo a psychosexual evaluation before sentencing in January.
The other suspect in the case was charged as a juvenile, and details of the charges against them are sealed as he was under the age of 16 at the time.
