(KNSI) — An Anoka man is charged in Stearns County District Court for allegedly possessing around five pounds of methamphetamine.

According to the criminal complaint, about 2:00 Thursday afternoon, an investigator with the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was in contact with a confidential informant regarding a man known as “Joe” to be involved in wholesale distribution of methamphetamine around the area. The informant told police Joe would be delivering meth to an address in Stearns County later that day.

The criminal complaint says about 9:45 p.m.; the informant contacted the investigator who said Joe, officially identified in court papers as 69-year-old Joseph Myers Junior, was on his way to a home. Police say they saw Myers pulling up to an address in Spring Hill Township and was detained as he got out of the vehicle.

An investigator said they saw Myers remove a bag from inside the vehicle. Inside that bag were approximately five, one gallon freezer bags that allegedly each contained roughly a pound of meth. The substance field-tested positive for meth.

Myers was charged with one count of first-degree felony drug possession.

Bail was set at $700,000 without conditions. His next court appearance is set for November 19th.
