UPDATE: Charges were dropped against Joseph Jenkins Jr. by prosecutors in the “interest of justice.” The Stearns County Attorney’s office stated that a key witness couldn’t be located. As of October 2022, all counts related to the case have been dropped.

(KNSI) – A man imprisoned in Ohio is charged with raping a boy when he lived in St. Cloud in 2013.

According to the criminal complaint, Joseph Jenkins Jr. lived with a woman and multiple children in the 700-block of 5th Avenue North when he allegedly walked into a room where his five-year-old stepson was watching TV and sexually assaulted him.

Shortly after the assault, the victim says his mother kicked the 50-year-old man out of the house, and he and his siblings were placed in foster care. The criminal complaint says they were removed from the home after social workers learned Jenkins had violated orders for protection and domestic abuse no-contact orders put in place to protect the children after they witnessed Jenkins violently attack their mother with a knife.

He’s being prosecuted for criminal sexual conduct in the 1st degree. Bail was set at $1,000,000. His next court date is November 4th.
