(KNSI) — Some good news in the case of a ten-year-old St. Cloud boy who was shot in the head this past spring.
Ladavionne Garret, Junior was shot in the head while riding in his parents’ SUV after visiting his grandmother in north Minneapolis on April 30th. The family was driving in the area of 34th and Morgan Avenues North that afternoon, and Ladavionne was sleeping in the backseat when he was hit by a stray bullet. He was rushed to North Memorial Medical Center, where he has been ever since. His family says Ladavionne is now well enough to go home.
He will turn 11 on Sunday. His grandmother says he is coming home on November 1st.
A Go Fund Me was set up to help the family and raised more than $69,000.
Ladavionne was one of several children shot in Minneapolis this year. Two other kids, Trinity Ottoson Smith, and Aniya Allen, were shot a couple of weeks later and within days of each other. Both of those little girls died.
A reward of $180,000 was put up this summer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The Minneapolis Police Department believes they were unintended victims of gang violence and were caught in the crossfire.
