(KNSI) — Officials in Benton County say they have a person in custody in connection to the 2020 burglary at the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center.
According to the criminal complaint, about 1:45 a.m. the morning of October 9th, 2020, St. Cloud police responded to an alarm at the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center. When they arrived, they found a broken window on a service door. While clearing the building, investigators say they found a cabinet below a television that was open with electrical cords lying on the floor. Staff at the center told officers that was where several laptop computers were stored. In all, the criminal complaint says six computers were missing. Drawers and papers were rummaged through, and a compartment with a hidden key inside was also open.
The criminal complaint says investigators found a bloody phone with earbuds attached that appeared to have blood on them. Marks on a door jamb also appeared to contain blood and fingerprint evidence, according to police. The next day, investigators say they found a bloody palm print on a TV and signs of forced entry on another door.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension analyzed DNA samples taken from the scene and said it came back to 38-year-old Will Dekarlo Hollins.
Court records show Hollins has a previous conviction for second-degree burglary in Stearns County and two pending cases of first-degree burglary in Benton County.
Hollins was charged with third-degree burglary and theft. His next court date is November 24th.
