(KNSI) — A man wanted for aiding and abetting second-degree murder in Clay County was arrested in St. Cloud on Thursday.

Prosecutors in Clay County say 32-year-old Abdi Mohamed Abdi of Fargo was found shot to death in Moorhead on September 10th. Three days later, Idris Haji-Mohamed was arrested in Rochester for second-degree murder. Prosecutors filed aiding and abetting charges against Ibrahim Abdiaziz Isaac on October 5th.

According to a press release, Isaac was arrested about 6:30 Thursday evening by the St. Cloud Police’s Community Response Team and the U.S. Marshals Service. It is not clear how he is tied to the murder. The court documents surrounding his charges are sealed.

According to court documents, police responded to a call of shots fired about 8:00 the evening of September 10th. They found Abdi, who they say had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Prosecutors say Abdi had driven to a gas station with other people but stayed in the car while they went into the store. While he was waiting, they say, Haji-Mohamed had been dropped off nearby.

Haji-Mohamed allegedly walked past Abdi’s car, went inside to buy cigarettes, and then left, stopping to talk with the people inside Abdi’s car before walking away. Police say Abdi left the gas station with Haji-Mohamed following them.

The criminal complaint says Abdi was at an apartment having a cigarette when Haji-Mohamed got out of his car and started chasing after him with a gun, shooting him twice. Surveillance video shows Abdi running through a parking lot and Haji-Mohamed still chasing him. Abdi collapsed on the ground, and police say Haji-Mohamed walked up and shot him five more times at point blank range.

At one point during the shooting, police say, the magazine fell out of the gun, and when Haji-Mohamed picked it up, he dropped his wallet. Police say he showed his ID when he bought cigarettes, and investigators recovered the wallet and ID from the scene, tying him to the murder.

Police don’t know what the relationship was between Abdi and Haji-Mohamed.

A search of court records shows Haji-Mohamed was charged in Olmstead County with second-degree attempted murder in 2017 for his role in an alleged shootout between three people near a restaurant in Rochester. He pled guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for time served.
