(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University is celebrating homecoming this week. SCSU kicked off events on Wednesday morning with a campus kick-off celebration that featured rides, games, food and prizes for students.
SCSU is holding events through Saturday when the men’s hockey team hosts the University of Minnesota at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
According to the university, homecoming is a time to have fun on campus, reconnect with alumni and friends, experience the St. Cloud community, and celebrate what it means to be a Husky.
Homecoming will be celebrated at SCSU hockey, volleyball and soccer games this week.
On Thursday, a bonfire and pep rally will be at 6:00 p.m. with Huskies Athletic teams and entertainment before the Homecoming Concert featuring the Concert Choir, Wind Ensemble and Chamber Singers. The concert is in the Ritsche Auditorium in Stewart Hall.
Reunion events are also planned throughout the weekend for alumni involved with Multicultural Student Services, Athletics, Germany study abroad, Greek Life and the Dog Pound.
Signature events include:
· 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 13: Campus Homecoming Kick-Off Event, the event has been moved indoors and will be in the Atwood Main Hallway, Main Lounge, Ballroom and Glacier Room.
· 6 p.m. Oct. 14: Homecoming Bonfire, St. Cloud State University, Holes Hall Lawn
· 7 p.m. Oct. 14: St. Cloud State Homecoming Concert, Ritsche Auditorium, Stewart Hall
· 4 p.m.: Downtown Art Crawl, Downtown St. Cloud
· 6 p.m.: Volleyball vs. University of Mary, Halenbeck Hall
· 7 p.m.: Men’s Soccer vs. Purdue University-Northwest, Husky Stadium
· 10 a.m.: Homecoming 5k Run/Walk, Starts at Lawrence Hall
· 10:30 a.m.: Notable Alumni Recognition and Reception, Administrative Services Building Lobby
· 1 p.m.: Women’s Hockey vs. University of St. Thomas, Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
· 2 p.m.: Volleyball vs. Minot State, Halenbeck Hall
· 3 p.m.: Huskies Fan Fest, Herb Brooks Way
· 5:07 p.m.: Men’s Hockey vs. University of Minnesota, Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (games are broadcast on AM 1450/FM 99.3 KNSI)
· Postgame Concert featuring Coyote Wild, Herb Brooks Way
The Alumni Art Show is a collaboration between the School of the Arts and the St. Cloud State Alumni Association.
