(KNSI) – Police arrested a Big Lake man after a pursuit near Clear Lake ended with the suspect’s vehicle getting stuck on railroad tracks and the man running from the car.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of a vehicle swerving on County Road 11 in Becker Township around 7:35 on Tuesday night. At one point, the caller stated the car stopped in the middle of the road.
When a deputy found the vehicle, the driver fled on 100th Avenue, eventually crossing Highway 10 without stopping. He drove the car onto railroad property south of Highway 10 before getting it hung up on the tracks. The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers from the Big Lake and Becker Police Departments and State Patrol troopers assisted in the search, along with a drone.
He was found a short time later and arrested. The man, identified as 34-year-old Justin Michael Habiger, had an active warrant for his arrest.
Police say they found almost 4 1/2 ounces of methamphetamine and 4 1/2 ounces of marijuana in the vehicle. Habiger is being held on the warrant and could face charges of intent to distribute drugs and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
