(KNSI) – According to the Minnesota Department of Health, the list of schools reporting five or more COVID-19 cases continues to grow. The latest data from the state showed 514 new cases in K-12 schools and 158 schools reporting five or more cases in two weeks. The brings Minnesota’s total to 423 schools with five or more cases. MDH says 996 schools have reported at least one COVID case.
Schools in Central Minnesota added to the list include St. Cloud Cathedral, St. Katharine Drexel in St. Cloud, Kennedy Community School in St. Joseph, Pine Meadow Primary School in Sartell, Pleasant View Elementary in Sauk Rapids, Rice Elementary, Melrose Elementary and Secondary Schools, Becker Primary, Becker Intermediate Elementary and Becker Senior High.
They join St. Cloud Tech High School, Sartell High School, Sartell Middle School, Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School, Riverview Intermediate School in Sartell, Rocori Senior High, Avon Elementary, Sauk Centre Secondary, Eden Valley Elementary, Little Falls Senior High, and Becker Middle School.
The weekly report lists schools with five or more reported cases within 14 days. Schools will be removed from the list after they have no lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases for 28 days.
According to the MDH, schools on the list do not necessarily have ongoing transmission; however, five or more people were inside and tested positive for COVID 19.
Public, private, and tribal school districts must report any positive COVID-19 tests to the health department in their staff and students.
