(KNSI) – Experts warn a lack of truck drivers could lead to delays in almost everything getting to consumers. CEO and President of the Minnesota Trucking Association John Hausladen says they need more truckers, but it’s not time to panic.

“Not panic but patience. I think that is certainly the reality we’re in right now. We’ve revved up a supply chain that can’t move things fast enough for reality. And so we just have way more stuff trying to move through the pipeline than we can.”

He says the trucking industry hasn’t been able to replace retiring drivers. Hausladen thinks it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start your shopping early so the item can get to you in time for the holidays.

“Trucking is essential. We said if you got it, a truck brought it. So, Christmas, food, whatever you’re thinking about. Just be thoughtful. It’s not time to panic. But you know if there’s that special thing you want or that important thing, I wouldn’t wait for last minute to order.”

Several organizations have been warning of possible issues getting Christmas presents delivered in time.
