(KNSI) – A fundraiser to help cancer patients in the St. Cloud area will is this weekend as Beast Cancer Awareness Month gets underway.
The first annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at CentraCare Plaza in St. Cloud. Men are asked to put on a pair of high heel shoes or wedges and walk as much of the mile as they can. Ladies can put on their sneakers and support their men on the walk.
104.7 KCLD is putting on the event in St. Cloud. Kat from the Morning Playhouse talked about how the money will be used.
“Do you know what cooling caps are? If somebody is going through chemo and they’re expected to lose their hair, it helps prevent some unnecessary hair loss. Also wigs and transportation to treatments. That’s where this money is going.”
She says when a woman losses her hair, it can affect her in many ways.
“I’m a female and sometimes our hair is our identity and is a big part of us. We think a lot about our hair, how it looks and then suddenly have it gone, and I mean it’s a shock.”
All the funds will help women at the Coborn’s Cancer Center. To donate, click here or call 320-251-1047.
