(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help after more than 100 shingle-type nails were found outside a garage door leading out of the Law Enforcement Center.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy was conducting an exterior safety check of the building on September 23rd when he saw the nails outside the exit door to the jail vehicle sally port. The sally port is the garage area where police and sheriff vehicles unload inmates at a jail.
The deputy picked them up and made a report. Surveillance video from outside the sally port shows a newer white panel van turn left by the old Taco John’s and drive past the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. As the van passes, investigators say an arm is extended, and the nails are seen on the ground. The van then turns east on 2nd Street toward the river.
The incident happened about 6:40 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 320-259-3702.
