(KNSI) – The annual St. Cloud area Relay For Life fundraiser to fight cancer is Saturday. This year’s event is at the Sartell Community Center from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The St. Cloud area relay for life has raised more than $56,000 of its $60,000 goal.
Every community in the area will come together to celebrate and remember those lost to cancer. The event will kick off at 4 p.m. with the Opening Ceremony honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer. The heart and soul of the event, the walk by survivor and caregiver, will begin around 4:30 p.m.
At 8 p.m. is the Luminaria Ceremony. Everyone touched by cancer will be given a bag with a candle inside to represent a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer, or support for a person still fighting the disease.
The closing ceremony will be at 10:30 p.m.
The event in Sartell is one of more than 2,500 Relay events around the country to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers.
