(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 3,882 new COVID cases statewide Tuesday. Those cases were identified on Saturday, Sunday and Monday this week, and the five-county St. Cloud area’s three-day case total is 384.

Laboratories processed 65,029 COVID tests submitted in Minnesota on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Just shy of 6 percent of those tests returned positive results.
There are also six newly reported deaths due to COVID, including a Stearns County resident who was in their 70s. Of the six deaths, four people lived in private residences and two were long-term care or assisted living residents. All deaths reported Tuesday occurred this month.
Hospitalizations due to COVID did not increase between Monday and Tuesday, with 589 patients currently receiving medical care for COVID in Minnesota’s hospitals. At the same time, more and more Minnesotans are getting vaccinated.
Last week, from August 22nd to the 28th, 66,156 first and second vaccine doses were administered to Minnesotans. The current rate of vaccination is up 59 percent from six weeks ago, when 41,561 doses were given during the week of July 18th. In total, more than 3.3 million state residents have received at least one shot; the state is approaching having 60 percent of its total population at least partially vaccinated against COVID. More than 3.1 million Minnesotans are now fully vaccinated.
