(KNSI) – No Minnesota National Guard soldiers assisting with the evacuations from the Kabul airport were hurt in Thursday’s terrorist attack.

Congressman Pete Stauber says he spoke with Minnesota National Guard leadership for a briefing shortly after the attack and was told that Minnesota National Guard members were not among the casualties. He says the units continue to carry out the evacuations of American civilians and allies.

Earlier this month, Task Force 1-194 mobilized from Kuwait to Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul to secure part of the airport and provide humanitarian aid to U.S. citizens, special immigrant visa holders, and families.

Task Force 1-194 is comprised of 1,100 soldiers from Minnesota National Guard units based in St. Cloud, Sauk Centre, Brainerd, Camp Ripley, Detroit Lakes, St. Paul, Crookston, and Cottage Grove.

Stauber says the threat of another terrorist attack remains high.
