(KNSI) – Live music, food trucks and Christian ministry are planned for the next three evenings out at Lake George and Eastman Park.
Revive at Lake George starts at 6 p.m. Friday, and Brainerd-based minister Dean Goosen says the events Friday, Saturday and Sunday will involve prayer, food and music. They’re free to attend, but Goosen recommends bringing lawn chairs.
“We will have food trucks available for you to by food, and it’s going to be available from 6 o’clock to 10 o’clock every night,” Goosen said. “Then, we’ll have live music, one of us ministers will be preaching, and then we will have a ministry time where we will tell people about Jesus. We’re going to pray for people, specifically for healing.”
Goosen is part of a group of Christian ministers who travel the world. In November 2020, they coordinated the first Revive in St. Cloud, held indoors. He said part of the reason why the group chose Lake George as this year’s venue was that the park area is known for fostering community.
“We just want to bless the community,” Goosen said.
The eveningtime events will also feature free food giveaways.
“We have two semi loads of free food we’re going to be giving away,” Goosen said. “Anybody that needs food, every night, we’re going to open up these pallets of food and allow people to take what they need.”
Goosen said there will also be a youth event Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. that is tailored toward 12- to 24-year-olds.
“We’re bringing in a professional DJ, we’re giving away free pizza … and Dave Hauer is the one speaking at that event,” Goosen said. “It’s not what most people expect. Most people see a youth event as, ‘Oh, it’s gonna be loud and crazy’ — no, this is actually really powerful.”
Also on the schedule: a morning service from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, then a family fun night from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
“Since there’s already playgrounds and the splash pad there, not only will we have the food vendors, but we’re going to do face painting and balloons and all kinds of activities geared towards parents with young kids,” Goosen said. “That way, if they want to enjoy the short Minnesota summer, one more weekend before we start to get into the cold weather, this is ag great way for them to come early … then they can just stay for the main event that night.”
Goosen says the team has been working closely with local officials for the events’ COVID-19 precautions.
“We’re bringing in extra bathrooms, we’re bringing in a whole pallet of hand sanitizer — literally a whole pallet — so any that wants access to that at any time can have it,” he said. “The beautiful thing about Lake George is it’s such a big park, you can have as much space from people as you want.”
