(KNSI) – The man accused of shooting at a vehicle in St. Cloud Sunday afternoon has officially been charged.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a complaint of gunshots in the area of 9th Avenue South and 6th Street about 3:15. They say they spoke with a teen who said he was on his way to his aunt’s house when he saw a man he knew as “Ce-Mo” sitting in a vehicle. They said he motioned for him to come over to talk to him, but he said he kept on driving, knowing Ce-Mo had been in an altercation with one of his family members earlier in the day and had damaged some of their property.

He says Ce-Mo, now identified in court papers as 20-year-old Ca’Mari Smith, began following him until he made a u-turn and ended up behind Smith. It was then; the teen says Smith pointed a gun at him out of the driver’s side window and began firing. The teen was not hurt, but there was a mark where a bullet grazed his vehicle’s hood. He said Smith fled the scene. Police say they found seven shell casings at the scene.

Investigators with the Minnetonka Police Department went to Smith’s apartment and found his vehicle in the parking garage in front of a storage locker which they said was registered to Smith. Police say a Glock pistol was found inside the storage locker with the magazine missing seven bullets. It was also allegedly equipped with an auto sear, which converts the handgun into a fully automatic gun with the push of a button.

According to the criminal complaint, police searched Smith’s apartment, where they found a .9mm high capacity drum magazine, an empty standard magazine, and an empty high capacity magazine.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Stearns County jail. He was charged with one count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and drive-by shooting. Bail was set at $500,000. His next court date is set for September 9th.
