Update, 7:20 p.m.:
A tornado warning for northwestern Stearns County continues until 7:30 p.m. due to radar-indicated rotations in the storm cell.
From the NWS: “At 708 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Melrose, or 30 miles southeast of Alexandria, moving northeast at 40 mph. This storm continues to be monitored by storm spotters. It has had a history of brief tornado touchdowns.”
The NWS lists impacted locations as Melrose, Meire Grove and St. Rosa.
Original, 7:02 p.m.:
(KNSI) – A tornado warning is in effect for northwestern Stearns County, as weather spotters confirmed a tornado near Belgrade.
The NWS reports the tornado, spotted over Belgrade shortly before 7 p.m., is moving northeast at 40 miles per hour.
The NWS lists impacted locations as Melrose.
“Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.”
At this time, the warning is set to expire at 7:30 p.m.
