(KNSI) – St. Cloud police say an argument over a soccer game led to a large fight involving around 20 people.
Officers were called around 9 a.m. on Sunday to a men’s soccer tournament at St. Cloud Tech High School for a large fight. The fighting had stopped by the time officers arrived.
Police say one person suffered minor injuries as a result of the fight but didn’t need medical attention. Investigators say they’re not sure what triggered the fight but it appeared to be related to the game.
The SCPD says they helped staff for about 30 minutes to clear everyone involved from the soccer field and parking lot. No arrests were made or tickets issued.
Police say this was an adult male soccer tournament that had leased the fields from the St. Cloud Area School District for three weekends. The soccer games are not a school district event.
Offices say some of those involved in the fight went to a gas station on the 3700-block of 23rd Street South; however, the SCPD says there were no reports of fights or incidents at the gas station.
Investigators say St. Cloud police have responded to two similar fights in recent weeks. There was a fight involving 25 people on Friday night near 12th Street Southeast and 11th Street Southeast that also resulted in minor injuries that didn’t need medical attention. On July 31st, there was a report of multiple people fighting at Lake George.
