(KNSI) – A report from personal finance website WalletHub says Minnesota is the third-best state in the nation when it comes to health care.
The Gopher State was outranked only by Massachusetts (first) and Rhode Island (second).
As the home of the Mayo Clinic and other large health care systems, Minnesota has the 16th most physicians per capita and ranks 21st for the number of dentists per capita. The state also has the fifth-highest percentage of insured adults and the fourth-lowest average monthly insurance premium.
Other categories where Minnesota ranks in the top half of states:
- 16th-highest percentage of insured children
- 4th-lowest percentage of adults who did not go to the dentist in the past year
- 21st-highest percentage of residents 12+ initiating vaccination
- 24th-highest percentage of medical residents retained
Overall, Minnesota ranks second for health care affordability, seventh for access to care and ninth for health outcomes.
The closest neighbor on the list is South Dakota, which is ranked tenth for the best health care in the country.
