(KNSI) – A man has been found guilty of two counts of criminal vehicular homicide for driving distracted and killing a pregnant woman from Holdingford.

A Stearns County judge convicted Corey Planck of causing the crash in December 2018 that killed Casey Myers and her son Simon.

The 48-year-old waived his right to have his trial in front of a jury and instead had his case decided by a judge.

His sentencing is scheduled for October 20.

The attorney for the Star City, Indiana man, will the court for probation.

The semi-driver ran a stop sign at a four-way stop at Stearns County roads 4 and 133 in LeSauk Township and hit Myers while she was driving to work.

According to the criminal complaint, Planck admitted he was listening to GPS through an earpiece and was on the phone with his supervisor when he missed the stop sign.

In July of 2019, Casey’s husband Matt Myers and her co-workers put up a memorial bench on the walking trail near the Meadows entrance at CentraCare Plaza.

Family and friends are also planning a memorial walk in her honor in Avon in September.
