(KNSI) – St. Cloud native Alise Willoughby raced into medal contention in Tokyo at Wednesday’s women’s BMX quarterfinals.
Willoughby came in first in her first two heats and first in total time and cruised into the lead in the third heat to move on.
Today it’s the women’s BMX semifinals and finals where she will look to win gold. The three-time Olympian won silver in Rio in 2016, participated as part of Team USA at the London games in 2012. Willoughby would have been in the 2008 Beijing games, but there was an age limit and was two years too young.
There is a watch party tonight at Pineview Park BMX, where Alise’s racing career began. The competition will be live streamed on the big screen starting at 8:00 tonight.
