(KNSI) – After canceling last year due to COVID-19, the Benton County Fair is set to start Tuesday, August 3rd and will run through Sunday, August 8th.

Benton County Fair board member Nancy Zupan spoke with KNSI’s Dan Oschner and says this year’s fair will be pared back a little bit from previous fairs’ offerings.

“We’re trying to do a lot of things that we did in the past,” Zupan said. “We’ve got some less booths in the arena.”

However, lots of mainstay events and activities — the midway, the 4-H livestock auction and musical acts on the Cottonwood and Beer Garden stages — are planned for the fair week. There are some new things to do, too.

“We’re trying something new; it’s Cottonwood Arts and Crafts,” Zupan said. “You can bring your homemade crafts down, for whatever day, and it’s $20 for the vendor to put up their stuff [for sale], so it’s something different that we’re trying.”

Zupan says the Cottonwood Arts and Crafts Fair will be located by the Cottonwood Stage, which itself will have a full lineup of musical acts each day of the fair.

Zupan adds that youth will be competing in a Vex Robotics competition that will take place in the Sports Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday of the fair, the first time the fair has held the event.

“Anybody can come and watch the robotics on Tuesday and Wednesday,” she said. “It’s open for the public.”

Commercial vendors will be setting up shop in the Sports Arena starting at noon Thursday, August 5th.

Midway ride vouchers are being sold at the fair office on the fairgrounds for $20.
