(KNSI) – Minnesota’s COVID-19 cases are on the rise.
Over the last seven days, the Minnesota Department of Health has reported 1,881 new cases and 15 new deaths statewide. That weekly case count is a 50.7 percent increase over last week’s reported new cases (1,248).
This week’s statewide test positivity rate is 2.4 percent, also a roughly 50 percent increase over last week. This means a greater percentage of all COVID tests submitted in the state are coming back positive.
The state’s latest COVID data include 155 new cases in the five-county St. Cloud area and three deaths: one Wright County resident in their 50s, one Wright County resident in their 90s and a Sherburne County resident in their 70s.
In Minnesota, 123 people are currently in the hospital due to COVID-19.
Vaccinations continue to increase at a slow pace. More than 3.1 million Minnesotans have received at least one vaccine shot so far. The state has only recorded around 106,000 vaccine doses administered in the month of July, compared to almost 400,000 in June and just shy of 1 million shots given in May.
