Update, Friday, July 23:

(KNSI) – Firefighters extinguished a blaze in Albany Thursday afternoon.

The fire started at Nature’s Best Ag Service at 1600 Railroad Avenue in Albany around 2:20 p.m. Fire departments from Freeport, Avon, Melrose and Albany arrived on scene to fight the fire. When firefighters arrived, flames were visible through the roof of the metal building, and the fire was producing a large amount of smoke, according to an Albany Fire Department press release.

Albany Fire Chief Gary Winkels says no employees or firefighters were injured during the fire. The building did sustain significant damage.

Because the building contained fertilizer, the St. Cloud Fire Department’s Chemical Assessment Team was called in. They contained the hazardous chemical water runoff at the scene.

Albany Fire and the State Fire Marshal are still investigating the cause of the fire.
