(KNSI) – St. Cloud’s free summer concert series is forging ahead despite an air quality warning for most of Minnesota, including the St. Cloud area.

Officials with Summertime By George say they’ve checked with local officials because of concerns around air quality due to wildfire in Canada and northern Minnesota and have determined it’s safe to host the event Wednesday night.

First responders will be on-site in case anyone does experience a problem.

The show starts at 5 p.m. with the opening act Going to the Sun followed by headliner Transit Authority Presents the Music of Chicago at 6:30.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.

The Moderat warning means air quality is acceptable; however, some people may be a risk, particularly those unusually sensitive to air pollution.
