(KNSI) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is releasing a few more details surrounding the officer-involved shooting death of a man in Olivia on Sunday morning.

The BCA says an Olivia police officer, who has been in law enforcement for 11 years, encountered 32-year-old Ricardo Torres, Junior, in an alley behind a building at around 2:20 a.m. Torres died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Midwest Medical Examiner. Torres was taken to the Olivia Hospital, where he died.

Investigators say a shotgun was recovered from near where Torres was shot.

Members of the Olivia Police Department do not wear body cameras, and there is also no dashcam footage of what happened. The BCA’s investigation is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will provide its findings without recommendation to the Renville County Attorney’s Office for review.
