(KNSI) – Minnesota is the sixth-best state to take a road trip in, according to a report by WalletHub.
States were ranked based on their travel costs, road safety and activities. Minnesota’s highest category score was safety, having the second-lowest fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled. It is also ninth for its driving laws. However, Minnesota is 25th in car thefts per capita.
The state also sports the sixth-lowest price of camping and the seventh-lowest average gas prices in the nation.
Minnesota is more middle-of-the-road in other categories, like nightlife options per capita (16th), access to scenic byways (13th) and the number of attractions (29th).
New York, Texas and Louisiana are the report’s top three states for road tripping. At the bottom: Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island.
