(KNSI) – Prosecutors have released a man suspected of shooting a teenager in downtown St. Cloud.

According to the Stearns County Attorney’s Office, the 25-year-old was let go on Tuesday morning without charges pending further investigation.

The suspect was arrested around 1 a.m. on Sunday after a St. Cloud Police officer saw a “volatile crowd” gathering near the H-lot.

The officer says as they approached, someone in the crowd raised a gun and fired several shots.

Investigators say that police found a 17-year-old boy shot in the arm and leg as the crowd scattered.

The teen was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The 25-year-old suspect was arrested without further incident, but police say several fights broke out after the shooting, and two women were arrested for disorderly conduct.

KNSI News has a policy of withholding the names of suspects until they’re formally charged.
