(KNSI) – A St. Joseph man was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after he swerved his vehicle to avoid hitting a deer and crashed in a field.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call from the driver, 69-year-old Jerome Klein, shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday. He reported that he had crashed near Highway 238 and 415th Street in Krain Township north of St. Anthony. The driver said he had a wrist injury and back pain. He had swerved to avoid hitting a deer and hit a field approach, causing his vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle landed in a nearby field.
First responders arrived on the scene, and Klein was taken to Melrose Hospital for his injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
