(KNSI) – A St. Cloud man is under arrest after allegedly firing a gun in downtown St. Cloud, injuring a 17-year-old boy.
The St. Cloud Police Department says one of its officers was on patrol just before 1 a.m. Sunday when they saw a ‘volatile crowd’ gathered in a parking lot in the 500 block of 1st Avenue South. A man in the crowd raised a handgun and fired multiple shots toward the west side of the nearby parking ramp. The crowd broke up, but SCPD says fights broke out nearby in other parking lots after the crowd dispersed.
SCPD says officers found a 17-year-old boy in the parking ramp who suffered gunshot wounds in his arm and foot. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and has since been treated and released.
Police then located the suspect, a 25-year-old man from St. Cloud, and took him into custody without incident. He awaits formal charges in the Stearns County Jail.
SCPD says a handgun was recovered at the scene, and officers arrested two women in connection to the fights that occurred after the shooting.
