(KNSI) – Following a nine-month deployment in Cuba, about 150 members of the Minnesota National Guard are coming home this weekend.
Members of the Stillwater-based 34th Military Police Company were deployed to Guantanamo Bay in August 2020 to provide security for Joint Task Force Guantanamo. The unit trained in Fort Bliss, Texas before heading abroad.
The soldiers will reunite with their families at Stillwater Armory on Saturday afternoon.
The Minnesota National Guard says members of the 34th Military Police Company have previously been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Kosovo. The unit was also mobilized in response to civil unrest in Minneapolis in May and June 2020.
