(KNSI) – The Women’s Fund of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation held its fifth annual Dancing With Our Stars competition Monday evening and raised a record-setting amount of money to benefit local organizations that help women and girls.

The event was livestreamed from St. John’s University, where dance duos were judged not only for their performances but also for how much money they raised for their organizations. ‘Community stars’ were paired up with professional dancers and rehearsed their routines for months ahead of the event.

Ryan Cross of BCI Construction and professional dancer Rachel Trout took home first place, bringing in more than $116,000 for Anna Marie’s Alliance. Other teams danced to the benefit of Terebinth Refuge, St. Cloud Pride, the Central Minnesota Child Advocacy Center and St. Cloud StandDown’s Lady Veterans Boutique.

As of 8 p.m. Monday, CMCF says the five dance teams brought in $389,428.10 in donations and competition prize money for their organizations.
